Georg Jensen
The brand Georg Jensen offers a wide range of exclusive home accessories, household items and jewelery. Among them is Panton Tray, a bowl designed by Verner Panton from 1988, and a vase collection from 1987. All five Verner Panton objects are made by hand of stainless steel or sterling silver. The TAGWERC Design STORE is one of the most sought-after retailers and few online shops worldwide that can offer these unique items exclusively.
Parallels to Panton
The Georg Jensen brand has its beginnings in Denmark at the early years of the 20th century. The Dane Georg Arthur Jensen founded the silversmith Georg Jensen Sølvsmedie in Copenhagen in 1904. Like Verner Panton, Georg Arthur Jensen graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, half a century earlier than sculptor Panton. While Georg Arthur Jensen initially produced works in the Art Nouveau style, later the production of high-quality silver designs by other designers such as Arne Jacobsen or Verner Panton was added.
Branch on Fifth Avenue
But not only with that Georg Arthur Jensen proved business sense. As early as 1924, Georg Arthur Jensen understood the importance of an international focus on his business and opened a branch on Fifth Avenue in New York, arguably the ‘most expensive street in the world’. Already one hundred years ago, the Dane laid the foundation stone for the international success of the Georg Jensen brand, which combines technical excellence and a flair for functionality and formal language with business acumen.
Attractiveness of everyday life
In more than hundred years of history numerous designers such as Arne Jacobsen, Finn Juhl, Henning Koppel, Erik Magnussen, Nanna Ditzel and of course Verner Panton crossed the paths of the precious metal manufactory. They all left their mark, designs to beautify everyday life, which are still produced today under the label Georg Jensen and delight their users every day.
