JOE PLUSH

Inspired by Pop Art and in the style of Radical Design by the designers Gionatan de Pas, Donato d’Urbino and Paolo Lomazzi (Studio DDL), the popularity of the baseball player Joe DiMaggio, centerfielder with the shirt number 5 for the New York Yankees, played a crucial role. DiMaggio embodied honesty, respect and loyalty. The son of Sicilian immigrants from humble backgrounds, he left school for sports at the age of 16. In 1949 he signed a contract with the New York Yankees for $ 100,000 a year. Marilyn Monroe was DiMaggio’s great love and they were a couple from 1952 to 1954. Until DiMaggio’s death in 1999, he regularly sent her red roses to her grave. Just as the New York Yankees no longer award the number 5 in his honor, Sudio DDL has set a design monument to the charismatic athlete with Italian roots with the Joe lounge chair.

In addition to the anniversary edition in gold and five other colour finishes in leather, there are also two material variants – Joe Jeans and Joe Plush – to choose from as a special edition. With a width of 175 centimeters, a depth of 110 centimeters and a height of 95 centimeters, Joe offers enough space to unwind and relax.
