Calvet Mirror Wall mirror
A piece of art for connoisseurs
In the bedroom, a dressing room, in the hallway or a previously unused niche – the Calvet mirror is undoubtedly an eye-catcher and forms an exciting contrast to modern architecture with plastered or concrete-finished walls. As a highlight at the reception or in an executive office, the Calvet mirror stands for discreet luxury that a connoisseur recognises and appreciates. The furniture of the Calvet collection offered in the TAGWERC Design STORE are not just furnishings – they are design objects and pieces of art at the same time, which take the viewer and user on a journey into design history.

Artefact of Modernism
For Casa Calvet, Antoni Gaudí designed a selection of tables, chairs – with and without armrests, benches, stools, shelves, mirrors and paintings. The furnishings for Casa Calvet are undoubtedly the largest and most homogeneous collection of furniture designed by Antoni Gaudí during his entire creative period. Casa Calvet is Gaudí’s first ever residential building. It is located in Barcelona and was awarded the prize for the best building in the city in 1900. The Calvet Mirror, as well as the other furniture from the Calvet collection, are still on display today in the Gaudí Museum in Parc Güell in Barcelona and are admired by around two million visitors every year. They are unique artefacts of this grand master of modernism.
Historic craftsmanship
In 1975, BD Barcelona revived the furniture of the Spanish architect Antoni Gaudí. Furniture that Antoni Gaudí designed for his houses Casa Batlló and Casa Calvet at the time are produced using exactly the same elaborate production processes that were used to make the first pieces. In addition to the “Batlló Chair” and “Calvet Armchair” named after the houses, the “Calvet Chair”, the “Calvet Mirror”, the “Calvet Wall Wardrobe” and the “Calvet Bench”, there are also style elements such as door handles and peepholes, so-called “spies”, which allow Gaudí’s unique and exclusive Modernist design style from Barcelona to be installed and experienced in one’s own four walls.
Sculpture and mirror
The Calvet Mirror is undoubtedly more like a sculpture than an object of utility. Although the Calvet Mirror is handcrafted from solid oak, its delicate and elegant design does not make it look bulky or heavy. Opulent, organically curved carvings give the Calvet Mirror a certain dynamism and are an expression of the special design of Casa Calvet, immortalised by Grand Master Gaudí in Barcelona.

The Calvet Mirror was designed by
Antoni Gaudí
Antoni Gaudí is one of the most famous - if not the most famous - Spanish architect of the 20th century. Born in Catalonia, he created a series of fantastic buildings in his home city of Barcelona that still attract millions of visitors every year. To match his buildings, Gaudí created a range of furnishings that reflect his design style, 'Modernisme'.
